Personal College Advising Services

We make choosing a college a seamless process

When it comes to choosing a college, students and parents have lots of questions. At Personal College Advising, we have the answers. If we don’t, we know people who do. Unlike working with the school guidance counselor, you don’t have to set up an appointment to ask your question. Students and parents can e-mail questions any time or call during normal business hours.

Personal College Advising offers a wide range of educational counseling services to help students and parents with the college selection process. Those services include:

  • Initial interview and consultation - this is where we identify the student’s strengths, likes, and dislikes, then set goals and a calendar of activities.
  • Counseling on which high school courses to take to put students in the best position to be accepted at the schools of their choice.
  • Strategies for visiting college campuses, college fairs, and interviewing.
  • Assistance with college applications, including essays.
  • Creation of an admissions calendar and financial aid calendar.
  • References to resources for scholarships, financial aid, and financial planning.
  • Helping current college students to transfer.

To get the most out of Personal College Advising’s service, we recommend students and their parents start the planning process during freshman year. That leaves enough time to address curriculum for the remainder of their high school years as well as preparation for SATs.

Personal College Advising charges a one-time, flat fee for our services. That fee covers from the time of the initial consultation to selection of a college–whether that’s one year, two years, or even three.

There’s no getting around the high cost of a college education. That’s a fact of life, even for a state school. As expensive as a higher education can be, that cost goes up dramatically if the student isn’t happy with their choice–students transfer, more calls and trips home, grades suffer, etc.  For a fee of less than 10 percent of what it costs to attend the average private school, Personal College Advising can help students choose the college and the education that’s right for them.
